Shakespeare
Man, Myth, and Legend

William Shakespeare is still known as a genius literary mastermind and is attributed with creating many of the words we use in the English language today. Read both articles below; William Shakespeare and Shakespeare’s Words.
Once you have read and looked at both articles, then tell me a word that you didn’t know Shakespeare created that shocked you, and how often you use that in your own day-to-day vocabulary. Also, do you think that Shakespeare's work is worth the acclaim or overrated and outdated? It doesn't have to be an essay but I'd like to see fully formed ideas and critical thinking!

ReplyDeleteI was surprised he made the word 'Hurry' I use this word all the time! I think he's worth the acclaim because he came up with a ton of words that people use in their everyday lives. If he hadn't come up with those words who knows what we would be using instead.

ReplyDeleteWhat I thought was cool was the word "puppy dog". I use that word everyday when I talk to my dogs. I wonder if he did not think of that word then what would we call dogs. That just makes you think a little about all the words he made up.
I had no idea that he created the word "Rant". I think that is interesting because I use that word a lot in my everyday language. Like for an example I would say something like this to my best friend, " I need to rant for a minute." I definitely think he is worth the acclaim because many many many people use those words he created.
